- Your GH5 camera has three slash four different focusing modes. There's AFS, for auto-focus single, and AFF for auto-focus flexible, then there's AFC for auto-focus continuous, and MF for manual focus. Let's start with the simple auto-focus modes. AFS is auto-focus single. This is where the camera focuses, locks, and then doesn't refocus again. This is what you'd typically use for any subject that isn't moving whether it's a still life, a building, or anything that's not moving where you want the camera to focus, lock, and then not even think about refocusing. There's auto-focus continuous where you are shooting something that is moving. So it might be your kids running around, it might be a sports game, a moving car, whatever it might be, you know the subject is moving and so you want the camera to follow it as best as it can and keep things always in focus, and then the AFF or auto-focus flexible is a mode that's somewhere between.
