Toning filters can add vitality and punch to an image. In this video, Derrick Story shows you how to use his favorite toning filters in Luminar. Luminar is a modern image editor for both Mac and PC platforms. It provides photographers with the tools they need to creatively edit their images quickly and easily.
- [Instructor] Color toning is one of those techniques…that I think is sometimes overlooked a little bit,…and I'm hoping to bring it to the forefront of your…creative workflow.…(laughs)…We have two really great filters here in Luminar…for this technique by Color Toning and Split Toning.…So what I've done is I've created a new layer called Toning,…and I'm going to show you both of them.…We'll start with Split Toning, right down here.…And let me unveil it.…(laughs)…What Split Toning is,…is where you assign a tone hue to Highlights,…and then a different tone hue to the Shadow areas.…
And then you kind of mix 'em the way that you want.…So I'm doing a cinematic look right now,…where I assigned a cooler Shadow hue…combined with a warmer Highlight hue,…and seeing how they work together.…And then you have a balance slider,…so you can kind of go between the two.…So the Shadows are coolish, Highlights are warmish.…And then you can create this cinematic look,…if that's what you're after.…
And you can do it with all sorts of different hues.…
