Degeneration: Embracing imperfection

- Now that we've picked up on the idea that imperfection can add value to design where desired, you'll start to notice it everywhere. There are entire industries of plug-ins and downloads that you can use to grunge, crack, weather, wash, misregister, and generally abuse your design beyond recognition. They have greatly simplified a digital solution designed to make your final product look so analogue you'd swear it's never seen a computer. Before you become too absorbed in dialing through all your degenerative options, remember what they are emulating, and that there is a reason for each. Though we'll discuss these further in Chapter Four on surface technique, I want to introduce these to you now so that you'll make note of this process as we move through this course.
