The importance of monitors

- [Instructor] Whether you're in a commercial or home studio, it's imperative that you're able to hear the sounds you're recording with precision and accuracy. Almost all home studios should be using near-field reference monitors. These monitors are typically self powered and small with a six or eight inch woofer and a high frequency driver. They're designed to have a minimal interaction with the control room, the space where you mix because the more active the speakers are in the room, the more influence the room has on what you hear at the mix position.
