Using capture recording
Here is another easy trick, while programming a beat called capture recording to never lose your creative ideas. This feature is one of Logic's coolest tools for the creative writing process. I'd like to record a bass line. I'll use one of my favorite bass instruments in Logic, the ESM. Here is what the ESM looks like. Just click on the insert, to open up the interface. Here's how it sounds. Nice, low, round sound. Actually made this preset. I'll click just to the left of the insert. We can see in the library, this patch, smooth low end, here's the track. So don't exactly know what bass line I want to play, so I'm not going to enable record yet. But the the bass track selected I'll start playback with the space bar and just start noodling around. Here we go. I don't actually need the click on. Oh, my God I love that baseline I played and might not ever play it again with exactly that feel. But no worries.
