Making an evocative synth hi-hat

- I love programming drum sounds with synths. In this movie, I'll show you how to get a great high hat sound with a moving pattern out of native instruments Massive. So we have this new instrument track here in Logic. It's loaded up with native instruments, Massive instrument. Now, right now, it doesn't sound like much. If I hit play and solo the track you'll hear what it's playing, just a single note. (note beeps) Okay, so that sounds nothing like a high hat yet. But let's work on some of the controls here to make it sound like a high hat. First thing I want to do is turn off all of the oscillators except for the noise oscillator, which is where we'll get our high hat sound. So I'll turn off oscillator one, two, three and the modulation oscillator. That leaves us with the noise oscillator. Now remember Massive is a wave table synth, so I can look up a wave form for our noise profile. I'll choose the high metallic one.…
