Intro to operating principles
- [Instructor] There are three main types of microphones that we use for live sound and in the studio, dynamic, condenser, and ribbon. Each mic type has strengths and weaknesses. That doesn't mean that one type is better than the others, it just means it's important for anyone using microphones to be aware of those strengths and weaknesses. So they can get the most out of their microphones and mic techniques. If you use microphones for a while you will with certainty discover that choosing the right mic for the job and placing that mic in the right place relative to the source will make the recording and live sound experiences very enjoyable. And you'll get some great sounds. If you make poor mic choices and place them haphazardly you'll create nothing but headaches for the rest of the audio recording or live sound process. This course is all about sharing the importance of mic choice and technique with you so that you'll have better and better results when you use microphones.
