Acoustic control
- [Instructor] Room acoustics play an undeniably crucial role in the sound that you capture through any microphone. Commercial studios typically have great-sounding rooms and they're also well-equipped to adapt those rooms to shape the sound of the microphone through the use of absorption, diffusion, baffles, and other free-standing acoustical control tools. To enjoy recording at home, you'll need to address some natural acoustical problems with the same types of tools that are used by commercial studios. Small rooms are different to record in because the reflections are close and strong, and the way that they combine with the source of the mic is very destructive to the recorded sound. The home studio, however, can be made to work quite well for most recording tasks through the intelligent use of absorption and diffusion.
