- [Instructor] The config file for the master service is at /etc/postfix/master.cf. This file holds settings for the master service and modifies the way it will work with other services in the mail delivery system. Let's take a look at it. In a terminal, type in less, space, /etc/postfix/master.cf, and hit enter. You will notice immediately that this file is not formatted the way the other configuration files are, it has columns, fields, and options. It also has sections for interfacing with each other service as well. Let's take a look at what each column is for. The left hand column is the service type or name. The second column is the type of transport going to be used, we can see inet and unix in this column. Other values could be fifo or pass. The third column is for whether the service is private or not, meaning is it for postfix use only. The default is yes, so if you want to override it, you have to change the dash to an n.
