The generic file

- [Instructor] The generic file provides mappings between local email addresses and remote ones for delivery to remote servers. This file handles outgoing email from a user domain or network and modifies the addresses when it is delivered. This differs from the canonical file, which is for incoming email, and modifies the addresses when the mail is received. The etc/postfix generic file has the entire man page in it just as the previous files did. Let's take a look. In a terminal on your rhhost1 VM, type in less space slash ETC slash postfix slash generic and hit enter. This file is exactly the same as the canonical file so we'll zip right through it. Let's skip down to the table format section by pressing forward slash and typing in TABLE FORMAT in upper case. The table format is a pattern in the left column with a result in the right column. The pattern is what we're matching and the result is what we're going to do with the email or who we'll deliver it to. There are various things…
