- [Male Narrator] In this course, we will be using a CentOS 7 virtual machine and virtualbox to install various Linux desktops. If you took my previous course, Linux: Overview and Installation, you can just continue using that virtual machine. If you didn't, you can use a standard CentOS 7 server with GUI installation. You should also be comfortable installing software on your host computer and will need to have administrator access. Although we will be using Windows in this course to run virtualbox, the software is also cross-platform, so, if you have a Mac, you can follow along.
For each desktop environment, we will be creating linked clones of our base CentOS 7 virtual machine to save space. If you choose to install CentOS 7 on a physical machine, make sure you give it about 15 gigabytes of disk space. You will also want to have high-speed internet for installing software.
