Vulnerability scanning with Kali - Linux Tutorial
From the course: Introduction to Kali Linux for Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking
Vulnerability scanning with Kali
- [Instructor] The purpose of penetration testing is to identify vulnerabilities, preferably before an adversary does. The second entry in Kali's application menu is vulnerability analysis and provides tools to do service profiling and vulnerability testing. In the vulnerability analysis menu, we can see three sub-menus. Fuzzing tools, OpenVAS scanner, and VoIP tools. We also have the key vulnerability checking tool, shown at this menu level. OpenVAS automatically added itself to this sub-menu when we loaded it. Let's take a look at three of the tools. A web service scanner called nikto, VoIP suite, and the OpenVAS scanner which we loaded.
