Send logs to a system
- [Instructor] Now that we have a machine configured to collect logs from other clients, let's configure a client machine to send logs to that server. Here I have a separate machine than the one that I've been using on the same virtual network. This machine's host name is my-centos-client so we can tell its log events apart from the server's. Much like on the server, what I need to do to enable this machine to send logs is to modify the etc/rsyslog.conf file with sudo nano /etc/rsyslog.conf, and down here at the bottom, there's some commented out directives about a forwarding rule. We're going to configure this machine to send logs to just one server, but, if you were to send to more than one server, you'd want to copy and paste this whole block and then make changes accordingly. If you want to set up a queue in case your server becomes unavailable, you can uncomment these five lines here. I'm not going to do that right now.
