Reinstall packages
- [Instructor] There are times when we have to reinstall a package of the same version. We can force the replacement of both the package and the files inside of it by providing the dash dash force option. Earlier in this chapter we created slash TMP slash packages and downloaded some RPMs into it using YUM. Type in CD space slash TMP slash packages and then type in LS. Now let's reinstall the tune D package by using the dash dash force option. Type in sudo space RPM space dash IVH space dash dash force space tune D and hit your tab key to complete the line. Now hit enter. Type in your password and hit enter again. This safely overwrites the old package and installed files. Note that YUM is a better way of taking care of situations like this, which we'll talk about later in the course. There may be a case where you don't want to overwrite the entire package, but just want to replace one file. This may be the case if you accidentally delete a configuration file or you'd like to start…
