- [Instructor] The main Postfix service called master is located in the usr/libexec/postfix directory. It's the main Postfix daemon and starts other services that handle different tasks. Each of these services has a well-defined function and is only given access to very limited set of resources in order to do its job. The pickup service waits for hints that new email has been dropped into the var/spool/postfix directory and feeds it to the cleanup service. The cleanup service then processes the inbound email. If it passes the test, it inserts it into the incoming mail queue and informs the queue manager of its arrival. Ill-formatted files are deleted without notifying the originator. The network queue manager or qmgr service is responsible for mail transmission, mail relay and local delivery. It waits for the arrival of incoming email and arranges for its delivery via Postfix delivery processes. The actual mail routing strategy is delegated to the trivial-rewrite service. The…
