Package versions and updates
- [Instructor] In addition to installing software, we can use Zypper to upgrade it or downgrade it as well. Upgrades or updates, come along when there's new features or bug fixes, either for user-facing software or for system software. And sometimes we need to rollback software to a previous version, if there's a bug or compatibility issues with newer versions. Using Zypper, we can work with individual packages or all the packages on the system, and we can update the operating system to a new release, as well. Let's take a few minutes to explore working with package versions. Earlier, I installed a version of Nmap from the nmap.org website, which in fact, is newer than what's available in the repository at the time I'm recording this. Let's take a look at all the versions of Nmap that are available in the repository. I'll write zypper search -s nmap. Here, I can see a V in the status column, next to the versions of Nmap…
