Migrate EXT3 to EXT4
- [Instructor] You can migrate any Ext2 or Ext3 drive to Ext4. This is a one way process as it changes some data structures on the disk. You may want to migrate an Ext2 disk to Ext4 to gain access to improved file system sizes, a larger number of files, support for solid-state drives, and journal checksumming. Let's start by unmounting our volume. Type in sudo space umount space slash dev slash vgdata slash lvdata and hit enter. Type in your password or prompt in. We're going to verify using df to insure it's not mounted. To migrate, we'll use the tune 2fs command again. Type in clear and then type in sudo space tune2fs space dash capital 0 space extents comma uninit underscore bg comma dir underscore index comma has underscore journal space slash dev slash vgdata slash lvdata and hit enter. Now let's verify this with lsblk. Type in sudo space lsblk space dash f and hit enter. This should show that the drive is Ext4 and not just mounted as Ext4. This is better than just mounting the…
