Managing packages with YaST
- We've spent some time working with Zipper to manage packages at the command line. But I'd like to take a moment to show you how to work with packages in the GUI as well. Using the YaST configuration software that SUSE and openSUSE use. I'll click on my menu here, and go to applications and settings. Here's YaST. Here in the software section, I see an option for Software Repositories, I'll click that. Here, we can take a look at the repositories and edit them as needed. I'll cancel out of here. Here in the Online Update section, we can see if there are any patches that need to be installed. And we can browse the other pages of the interface like the patterns View, which shows patterns that are installed and what their components are. Over on the search tab, we can search for packages both on the system and in their repositories. We can search and look through a list of matches, exploring the information for each…
