- [Instructor] Go back to root. Another directory is tmp, or the temporary directory, where temporary files are stored. You don't normally create files in this directory. Another important directory is var. This contains various types of files, and an important one here is log. This is where we find log messages. Log files are obviously very important for troubleshooting. So in the same way on a-ra-do, where we have a basic log buffer, we also have log files on a Linux system. This is the same kind of idea as log files on other operating systems such as Windows. (bright music)
