- [Instructor] Now that we have KDE 4 installed, let's take a look around. In KDE, the toolbars are called panels. You'll notice that we have an application menu in the bottom left hand corner of the screen which is similar to the one in Windows 10. If we click it, we'll see our most used applications, a menu tree with all of our applications, drives and folders, recently used files, and our logout buttons. Now let's click the favorites menu and system settings. Historically, KDE was known as the desktop for power users and KDE 4.10 doesn't disappoint. You can configure and modify for virtually every aspect of KDE's appearance and how it operates. Click on application appearance in the top row. Here we can choose the widgets dial, which would be the look and feel of buttons, panes, and gadgets inside a window. In this dialog, you can also change the colors, icons and fonts. An interesting item is GTK appearance. Remember that KDE uses the CUTE toolkit and most applications use GDK…
