- [Instructor] Fedora is available as two different environments, workstation and server. And in this course, we'll use the workstation version. If you visit getfedora.org, you can click on the workstation version and find the download link. Once you're there, you'll see a few options. One option is the Fedora media rider, which is a tool that lets you put the Fedora installation image onto external media to install it natively on a computer. We'll skip that for now and take a look at it in a moment. But first, we need an image of the Fedora installer. An image is a file that represents an installation CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. And they're delivered as .iso files. These files, or images, can be transferred to external media or they can be used as is to install Fedora in a virtual machine.
