- [Instructor] We hear the terms cloud computing and virtualization a lot these days. In some cases, it seems that the terms are used interchangeably. Let's talk about these two terms and differentiate between them. First, let's talk about cloud computing. Cloud computing is the automatic and dynamic scaling of computer resources, especially data storage and computing power. That last part is important. Expansion and contraction of available resources is done automatically based on need. Let's say we start out with only a slight demand for CPU power. In that case, our cloud would have one host running. As the demand increased, the cloud management software would spawn more hosts to handle the load. This process would continue to happen until all resources would be active and processing requests. As soon as the demand lessened, hosts would be shut down until the cloud would be running with the least number of hosts…
