- [Instructor] Once Graphite is completely installed, we can configure Carbon, Graphite's storage backend. In this section, we'll go over Carbon's various configuration files and configure Carbon for general use. Carbon utilizes, at most, three configuration files located by default in the /etc/carbon directory. These configuration files are carbon.conf, storage-schemas.conf, and storage-aggregation.conf, which is optional. First, we'll take a look at carbon.conf. This is Carbon's main configuration file, which defines settings for each carbon daemon. Settings are broken down into sections for each daemon. Values below the cache section will configure carbon-cache. Likewise, the relay and aggregator sections denote carbon-relay and carbon-aggregator daemon settings. For the purposes of a basic installation, we will focus on configuring carbon-cache and can ignore the other sections. The next configuration file we'll look at is storage-schemas.conf.
