Adding third-party repositories with APT

- [Instructor] The distribution repositories offer a lot of software and tools for you to download and use, but sometimes, we need to add another repository for tools that don't come from the distro maintainers. In order to do that, we can add third-party repositories to the system. These third-party repositories work just like the primary repositories. You can use them to search, update, install, and remove packages they provide. The only difference is that these repositories are maintained by someone else. Adding software via repositories makes managing your installed third-party apps easier, because you can use the update mechanism to install new versions rather than downloading an installer and upgrading manually. Let's take a brief look at how to use third-party repositories on distros using the APT package manager. We'll take a look at Red Hat in a later episode.
