In this video, we'll get familiar with the Sales Navigator interface. We'll explore the home page, which includes the news feed and several filters for changing how updates are displayed in the news feed. Then, we'll see the most important tools and pages in sales navigator, including the list of saved leads and accounts, and a quick look at the search tools.
- [Voiceover] In this movie, we're going to explore the Sales Navigator interface. When you login to Sales Navigator, you're going to start on this homepage. The main focus here, of course, is the news feed, which we've talked about before. It's this list in the middle of the screen with a bunch of news items that you can scroll through. This is pretty similar to the news feed that you see on the normal LinkedIn platform, except the updates that are here are only related to the accounts or leads that you've saved in Sales Navigator. If you don't have any leads or accounts saved yet, then this news feed will be empty.
Of course, I've already saved a few leads and accounts, just so we have something to look at. We're going to see how to find and save leads as we go through this course. You may also see information here on potential leads. Potential leads are people that you have not identified as a lead, but Sales Navigator is suggesting them based on your connections, your other leads, or the information that you provided in the onboarding process. You can identify potential leads because there will be a button that says "Save as Lead" on that news feed item.
Now, over here on the sidebar on the left, we have some filters. This allows us to change the information that we're seeing in the news feed. Right now, I'm filtered to Top Updates, which is the default, but we could select an alternative option. So, I could click on Recent Updates and it would give me different news feed items organized chronologically. Below that, we have filters organized by type. From here, you can see information on potential leads, which I mentioned just a moment ago.
Then you see Lead News, Lead Shares, and Account News, and Account Shares. Shares and news in this context are pretty different. If I were to click on Lead Shares or Account Shares, that would give me news feed items oriented around information that my leads or accounts are pushing out on LinkedIn. This is content that they're sharing on their network, but keep in mind, this is only going to be information that your leads or accounts are sharing publicly.
If a lead has set privacy settings and they're sharing information only to their network, then you're not going to circumvent those privacy settings by using Sales Navigator. Now, if we were to look at Lead News and Account News, that's different. News is going to pull information from around the web. News that may relate to your leads or accounts. This can be an alternative to setting up Google Alerts, for example. Remember, in this case, with news, your leads don't have control over the information that's being displayed, because that's information that's being pulled from the web.
Now, the last section here on your sidebar will let you sort the news feed according to specific accounts that you have saved in Sales Navigator. So, I only have four companies saved as accounts, so those are listed here. You'll see more accounts listed in this sidebar as you save more accounts in Sales Navigator. Now, over here on the right side, we have some different options and information. You can start by reviewing Your Social Selling Index.
As you develop your social sales strategy and build out your Sales Navigator account, this will give you an idea of how effectively you're using the tool. Below that, you can see how many people have recently viewed your profile, and you can see the profiles that you've viewed recently, and some searches that you've performed recently. So, the news feed and these sidebars will be where you go for quick day to day updates on your leads and your accounts. Now let's move to the options that we have up here at the top of the page.
Wherever you are in Sales Navigator, you can always return to this homepage by clicking on the LinkedIn logo or where it says Home, right here. In the center up here at the top is the search field. This is where you can do a very basic search. The search tools here, of course, are going to let you find new leads and new accounts. So, you could click on this search field and then start typing a simple search, looking for people or companies. But for a much more targeted, effective search, you should go to Lead Builder, which is the link next to that.
If I open that up, you'll see this larger window. Inside of Lead Builder, you can really build out your search criteria according to your target market, using some advanced filters. You can see a lot of different filters listed here. We're going to dive deeper into using Lead Builder in a later movie, but I did want to point out that you can find it right here at the top of the screen. To close this window, you can simply click anywhere outside of it, and it goes away. Below the search field are links to Accounts, Leads, and your Inbox.
You'll see a red dot on these if there's something new. The numbers in parentheses indicate how many accounts or leads you have. The number next to the Inbox shows you how many new, unread messages you've received. If you roll your mouse cursor over the Inbox, you'll see it'll open up, and there are actually two separate inboxes, one for Sales Navigator and one for the standard LinkedIn platform. So, you can see, I do not have any new messages on Sales Navigator, but I have one new message on LinkedIn.
So, let's take a closer look at leads and accounts. This is where you can drill down and get more information about both of those. So, let's start by clicking on Leads. You see it says five next to that? So, if I click on that, I'm going to see a list of five leads. These are the leads that I've already saved in Sales Navigator. From here, I could view these people's profiles, I could send InMail messages, and, of course, the information that I see in my news feed is built from these leads. If I go over to Accounts, I can see the companies that I've identified as accounts.
I can view the account page and, of course, information from these accounts will also be visible in the news feed. When I'm finished viewing this information, I can go back to the homepage again just by clicking on Home, up in the bar on the top. So, those are the main controls that you'll be using in Sales Navigator. If you hover over your profile icon in the top right, you can review Settings, you can see the User Agreement, and you can check out privacy settings. This is also where you can go to sign out when you're finished.
If you hover over Help, then you'll see a link to Tips & Training. This will take you to the learning page for Sales Navigator, where you can find resources provided by LinkedIn to help you learn this tool. So, in addition to this course, those resources can be a great way to learn more about Sales Navigator. So, that's going to be your interface. Everything that we do from here will start on this page and we'll use one of the options that we saw here to dig deeper.
