The LinkedIn Learning platform allows you to watch content directly in the video player. You have the ability to adjust the video player settings and take advantage of features such as playback speed and ten-second rewind.
- [Instructor] In the center of the course page is the video player. When watching a video in the video player, you have the ability to adjust some of the settings in order to customize your learning experience. Let's take a look at these features. So at the bottom left, you have the play and pause button. That is one nice benefit of video-based learning is that you can play it and pause it when you want so you can do stuff like take a bathroom break or pause it and watch it later, whatever you want. Next to this we have the 10-second rewind button. So if you're watching a course and you don't quite hear what someone says or you daydream for one second, you can click on this button to back the video up 10 seconds.
Here if I do that, you'll notice that it backs it up. - Right. - [Instructor] And there we are. Now next to this, we have the backwards and forwards button and this is to rewind to the previous video or to advance to the next video. If I click here, it will advance that to the next video. So I'm going to go now ahead in this video, and you can see next to this that it tells us where we're at in the video. In other words, right now, we are 55 seconds into a four-minute and 14 second video.
That's also shown here by the blue line that moves across the bottom. If at any time you want to skip ahead in a video, for some reason, you can do that by clicking on this line. I'll click to right here and it moves us to that portion of the video. I can click here and it will move us back. Now a little further to the right, over here, you have the speed controls. So this will adjust how fast the video plays. Now if you're someone who likes to listen to a video, say, a little bit faster, you can do that. And I'll talk about that in another video.
Next to this, we have closed captions, and if you want to turn them on, you can. I'll go ahead and do that. And as you can see, it will then include those closed captions. As you play the video. - Next, take a hard look at your network. So many people. - [Instructor] You can see those closed captions there. To the right of this, we have the volume button, and when I hover over it, we have the ability to turn the volume down or turn the volume up. And if you click on it, you can also mute it. Next to this, there is a gear icon, and when you click there, you have a couple options.
One is for the video quality, so you can decide at what quality you want the video. Remember that a larger video is going to take up more bandwidth, and then on the right, you have the ability to have continuous play. And what this means, if I go over here to contents, is that once you're done watching a video, do you want it to stop, and you have to play the next video? Or do you want it to automatically go on to the next video? If you want it to automatically go on, you would make sure that continuous play is on. Finally, down here, on the far right, you have full-screen mode.
So if I click on this, it will bring me to full screen, and I can then view this on the entire screen. If I want to escape here, I simply click the escape button, and it brings me back to this view. So take advantage of these features to customize your learning experience.
