- [Narrator] In this video, we'll cover setting up conversion tracking for your LinkedIn campaigns to measure the business impact of your ads. Using conversion tracking, you can measure how many prospects clicked on your ad, landed on your website, registered on your page and successfully got to your thank you page. Let's start on the campaign manager overview, to see how to setup conversion tracking in campaign manager. Now under tools, scroll down and click into conversion tracking. You'll notice there's a short getting started video. And I encourage you to watch it. Next, type in or paste the web domain.
Conversions are steps that users take on your site. Which you likely want to track. Such as visits, signups or downloads. So ensure to give each conversion a distinct name. Next, select a relevant conversion type from the dropdown. For example, download, install, signup or other. Next enter a value for each of the actions. So you can measure the ROI of your campaigns. For most advertisers, their conversion value is how much they're willing to pay for a lead. For example, I'll enter 80 dollars here.
So as the final and most important step, enter the full URL of the destination page. Or multiple pages, you want count conversions from. For example, a thank you page when someone arrives after filling out a form. So for example here, my event form. I encourage excluding HTTP or HTTPS and only include the WWW, if it appears within your URL when the visitors come to your site. You can add additional URLs as needed. To group them together into one conversion action. When you're done, click finish.
Once you've tagged your site, your domain should register as verified in about 60 minutes and may take up to 24 hours. If it's still showing as unverified after 24 hours, please visit the help center article at the bottom of the page, to learn more and get more troubleshooting tips. At the top. Go to go to your campaigns. And add conversion tracking for your existing or new campaigns. Let's setup a sponsored content campaign and check out how to add conversions. The bottom of the page here.
You'll see that I can select conversions. And check a box next to each conversion that you'd like to add. Click apply. You can add as many conversions as you'd like. Your accounts one insight tag will support all the conversions actions that you create. You can also add conversion tracking to the campaign that's already been setup. So let's click back into the account. And select a campaign that's already been setup. At the top you'll see a gears icon. And then you can click to select conversions. Similarly, you can just check the box for the conversions you want to add to your campaign.
And click apply. Now once your campaign is up and running, you'll be able to monitor your conversion results. Under the conversions tab. Here you'll see metrics like cost per conversion. And return and ad spend, if you specified a value for your conversions actions. You can also click into the demographics reporting at the top, to see the demographic breakdown for your campaigns. You can always navigate back to your conversion tracking setup. At the top, under tools and conversion tracking. At the top of the page, you'll see that you're also able to easily navigate to view insight tag.
One important thing to note, is if you're managing multiple accounts, and one website, you'll need to manage permissions, and add multiple accounts, so that multiple accounts, can use the one insight tag that you have setup on your page. Now let's take a look at some of the action statuses. Under tools and conversion tracking. This conversion tag here means that data has not been received from this tag. And means that you may not have added the tag to the page. Or added it incorrectly. Some other status updates you may see here, is not working, which means LinkedIn was receiving data from this conversion tag, but not receiving data in the last 30 days.
An active means the system was receiving data from the insight tag and you're good to go. Your conversions actions should become active within 60 minutes but please allow for about 24 hours before starting to troubleshoot. You can always add more domains if you need here. If you'd like to learn more about conversion tracking, and follow a step by step guide, download the conversion tracking guide in the exercise files. Use conversion tracking as a tool for discovering new audiences that are engaging with your content. Clicks don't always correlate with conversions. So there may be audiences that you may have previously missed.
