When getting started on LinkedIn Learning, it is important to add skills and adjust profile settings to help customize the recommended content.
- [Instructor] Before we get started let's take a look at how you can access the LinkedIn Learning platform. Now the first way you can is by navigating to www.linkedin.com/learning and that will bring you to your LinkedIn Learning platform. But you can also access it from your LinkedIn account. Now if you have a subscription that includes LinkedIn Learning you'll see the Learning icon in the upper right corner. If it doesn't appear here it may appear under the Work drop-down menu. I'll click here and you'll see that there are icons in here as well. Now it's important to note that this feature is set by your organization and may not be available. I'm going to go ahead and click on the Learning icon. When you first access your LinkedIn Learning account you're asked to share some skills that you're interested in learning about. If you didn't add many skills right away, no worries, you can add them any time. In order to do this I'm going to navigate up to my profile picture and then from the drop-down I'm going to add Skills, so I'll click here. And as you can see, I have a few skills here from when I set up my profile, however, I want to add some down below. I can see that there are several down here that they're recommending. I could go down and click on, say, Personal Development, Staff Development. I'm going to type in education, Educational Technology, and I've now added those skills. Adding skills is important, because it will help to customize your experience. Information on your LinkedIn profile along with these skills that you list and your viewing history will help LinkedIn Learning to customize the courses that they recommend to you. One final note is in this course I'll be using the desktop version of LinkedIn Learning. However, there's also a great mobile app that you can download and use to watch content on the platform. Although the look and layout will be a little different on the mobile device, the concepts will be the same. One nice thing about the mobile version is you have the ability to download courses to view offline, making it even more convenient to learn anywhere at any time. So now that we're inside of our account and have updated our skills let's dive in and get started learning how to use the LinkedIn Learning platform.
