The LinkedIn Learning video player allows you to adjust the playback speed of a course that you are watching. Utilize this feature, which allows you to change the pace at which the author is presenting the information.
- [Instructor] In the previous video, I discussed the video player controls. One of the features on the video player that I want to emphasize is the ability to adjust the video speed. The producers and instructors for LinkedIn Learning courses consider their talking speed and aim to speak at a pace that allows learners to follow along efficiently. Sometimes this depends on the type of course, though. Someone explaining concepts related to customer service can likely speak faster than someone teaching more technical content such as computer coding. Often, I have people comment to me that a course is going too fast or too slow.
One of the nice things about video-based learning as opposed to in person is that you do have the ability to pause or rewind the video. But there's another feature that you may want to take advantage of, and that is the video playback speed feature. So, when watching a video, by default, it will be set to one times, meaning that it's playing in normal speed. You do have the ability, however, to adjust this. You can slow it down by clicking on 0.75 or 0.5, or you can speed it up to 1.25, 1.5, all the way up to two times.
Now I personally do like to watch videos at a little bit faster pace. So, here, as you can see, if I play this... - [Woman On Video] A cover letter template and letters of recommendation. - [Instructor] It is playing at that speed. If I adjust it to 1.5 times and click play... - [Woman On Video] And then be honest with yourself about the state of each. Chances are they're going to need some adjustments for each-- - [Instructor] You can see that it sped up the author's voice there. So it's obviously going to depend on how intensely you need to be watching it, as well as what pace the author is speaking at.
But remember that this feature is here. And take advantage of it if you'd like to speed up or slow down the pace at which the instructor is speaking.
