- [Instructor] Regardless of whether you have a premium or basic LinkedIn account, one resource you should definitely take advantage of is the one you're probably using right now, LinkedIn Learning. As you're browsing through job listings, you'll probably find that many requires skills that you either don't have or need to brush up on. LinkedIn Learning can help you get up to speed on these skills, and you can use the simple search tools found on our site to quickly find the right courses to watch. If you recall from earlier, one of the advantages of a premium career account, is the access to insights in job listings. If you find a job you may be interested in, you can go to the insights for the job applicants, meaning the people who have applied for the position so far, and check out the top skills area to see what other people are bringing to the table.
Of course you can read in the job description itself to see what the employer is looking for in terms of skills. Between the insights and the job description, you should have a pretty clear picture of what expertise or competencies you should have in order to apply for this job. This should also help you identify any gaps or weaknesses in your knowledge. For example, maybe I'm an experienced web designer, but I've been neglecting keeping up with trends in responsive web design. Whether you need to brush up on existing skills, get up to date on the latest techniques, or learn something entirely new, you can easily head over to LinkedIn Learning by clicking the Learning button up here in the top navigation.
In the search field, type in the software or skill you want to learn about. Now, as you're typing, some suggestions for entire courses and individual videos will pop up. You can also press Enter or Return to see the full list of search results. Search results are sorted by best match, as you can see over here on the right. You can use the filters over on the left to refine your search. For instance, to see individual videos or entire courses. You can further narrow down the list of results by selecting from the other filter items under these headings.
For example, you might want to see the courses that are appropriate for beginners. Maybe from here, you want to list the results by newest to find the most recent courses. You can click on any course to go to its page. You can read the course details to see if it's what you're looking for. You can browse the table of contents. If you think this is a course you want to watch, you can click any one of these movies to get started.
Access to LinkedIn Learning comes as part of your premium career subscription. Be sure to take advantage of it, to brush up on your existing skills and to learn new ones and increase your value in the marketplace.
