- Okay, so once you've taken the time to make sure your basic LinkedIn profile is in good shape, you're then ready to upgrade to a Premium Job Seeker account. A Premium Job Seeker account offers enhanced versions of the features of a regular free account, as well as a collection of exclusive tools all aimed at helping you land the job you're looking for. To read more about Job Seeker, you can visit this page I'm looking at now at premium.linkedin.com/jobsearch. And they list three main advantages to a Job Seeker account. The first being, get noticed by potential employers.
So here you can see that with a Job Seeker account, you'll unlock features that make your profile more visible to potential employers, such as the ability to increase the size of your photo, and your listing will appear with double the space of other profiles when it shows up in searches allowing more of your information to be shown before someone clicks on your profile to view it. And when you show up in listings, you'll appear as a featured applicant at the top of the list, which again can increase the chance of it being viewed. The second advantage of a Job Seeker account is getting connected to hiring managers. With a regular account, you can always see the last five people who viewed your profile, but with a Job Seeker account, you can see everyone who's viewed your profile in the last 90 days, giving you a much larger pool of potential employers who have shown at least some interest in you that you might want to reach out to or contact.
Additionally, you'll also be able to see what words people were searching for that brought them to your profile, which can help you improve your profile by focusing it more on the skills people seem to be searching for. You'll also gain access to four more search filters, so when you're actively searching for jobs, which we looked at earlier in this chapter, you can filter for things like interests, seniority, Fortune 1000, and company size, which can potentially greatly narrow down the group of companies that end up in your search results. And you'll also be able to use up to 10 inmail credits per month. Inmail is the LinkedIn messaging system that let's you send messages to people outside of your network.
This allows you to contact people, like hiring managers, without having to first connect with them. You'll receive three inmail credits with your Job Seeker account, with the ability to purchase more. And the third main advantage of Job Seeker is the premium insights. Basically, you'll get access to statistics that show how you compare in terms of education, experience, skill, and so on to other applicants or current employees of the company you're applying to. You'll be able to filter job results by salary range, and you'll have access to other people with Job Seeker accounts through the private Job Seeker premium group.
We'll take a closer look at these and other benefits of a Job Seeker account in the upcoming videos in this course, but now, let's take a look at how to upgrade your account. It's actually very easy because anytime you're signed in to your basic account, just roll your mouse over your profile photo in the upper right hand corner, and choose Try Premium. You can also just go to premium.linkedin.com. And here you'll find a listing of all the various premium accounts LinkedIn offers. In this case, I'll click the Select plan link under Land your dream job, which is the Job Seeker plan.
And when signing up, you get a 30 day free trial, giving you access to all the Job Seeker tools and benefits, so you can try it out without your credit card being charged. Again, you can read through the details on this page, and once you're ready to upgrade, click Start your free month. You may be asked to sign in with your password again at this point. So you can see I'm lined up for 30 day free trial here. Next you want to enter your credit card information. If you decide not to continue with Job Seeker, you won't be charged, as long as you cancel your account before the trial period ends.
So we'll just fill out the information here. Once that's filled out, click Review order. Make sure everything looks good, and then click Start your free trial. And that's it. You'll immediately be upgraded to a full Job Seeker account, and you can start using its features right away. Notice if I return to the home page, and roll my mouse over the icon in the upper right hand corner, I can see this is now a Job Seeker account. All right, so in the upcoming videos, we'll start taking a closer look at the features and benefits of Job Seeker.
He then covers such features as Insights, which show how you stack up against a company's employees and other applicants. He also explains best practices for sending InMail to people, finding companies of interest, and using tools to reach key contacts and hiring managers.
