Join Garrick Chow for an in-depth discussion in this video Browsing and watching learning guides and curated playlists, part of Up and Running with LinkedIn Premium Job Seeker.
- Okay, so in the previous movie we took a look at how to search lynda.com for individual courses and videos to help you brush up on or learn entirely new skills for the jobs you'll be applying to. But there may be times when you'll find you need to develop a broader range of skills or to just widen your scope around your knowledge base. Or you may just not know where to begin learning a new skill. That's where a curated playlist can help. Playlists are collections of courses organized around a specific goal or task. For example, I'll roll my course over design and then under the third column, labeled in this case Design Resources, click Playlist Center.
Here you'll find a selection of playlists that have been curated by our experts to guide you through specific learning paths and goals. At the top of the screen you'll see the most popular playlists in the subject. For example, we have Designing a Website in Dreamweaver, Exploring Graphic Design, Designing a Logo, Designing Page Layouts, Designing a Website Using Muse and so on. And below that you'll find all the currently available playlists which you can sort using the Subject Menu here.
You can view the playlist either in this list layout or as a grid. Click on any playlist to view its contents. You'll see a description of the playlist, which courses it contains, the total duration and the date when the playlist was last updated. And, of course, you can browse through the courses it contains. Now, you can click on any of these courses within a playlist to immediately jump to that course and start watching it. But if you think you'll wanna watch some or all of the courses within the playlist click the yellow + button to subscribe to the playlist.
It will then appear on your playlist page which we'll see momentarily. And you can subscribe to as many playlists as you like. To view your playlists go to My Courses, Playlists and you'll find them all here under Subscribed Playlists. Selecting a playlist displays its contents to the right just like a regular playlist you create yourself and you'll be able to see your progress in each course.
And you'll always see the most up to date version of curated playlists here. So, if new courses are added to a playlist they'll appear here immediately. If you no longer want to follow a particular playlist or if you followed one accidentally just click the unsubscribe button to remove it. So, that's how to browse and use playlists which are great when you wanna take a deep dive into a specific type of project or skill set.
