What are the limitations of a LUT

When working with a LUT, there are a few limitations. One of the key things to realize is that a LUT just is a recipe to transform color and tone. So you can shift the RGB values to change a color within the image or several colors to particularly new shades. You can control the hue, the saturation and the lightness of the color. It's easy to make adjustments for contrast and tone but all of these adjustments are just based upon an original tone or range. Sure, we can have complex recipes and add spot colors effects or really emphasize or go after certain colors but some of the more advanced options that you might be used to like making selections or using masks are not part of the LUT. By default, the lookup table will apply to all parts of the image.
