- [Instructor] Lightroom CC albums are a great way to organize your photos. You can create albums based on subject matter or you might have an album that's a portfolio of your best photos or you might have an album for a project you're working on like photos that you want to print or photos that you want to upload to social media. However you want to use them, albums are a simple intuitive way to see related photos together. So, let's make an album by going to the albums panel and the way to access the albums panel is to click the My Photos icon here.
Then in the albums panel, I'll click the plus symbol and I'll create an album. I have some photos from Italy so I'm going to make an Italy album and I don't want to include whatever photo is selected at the moment. I'll click Create. So, now I have an album with no photos in it. To add a photo to this album, I'll just click on it in the photo grid and drag it on top of the album. Let's add a couple more photos. You can add multiple photos at one time by selecting them here so I'll click on one photo and then I'll hold the Shift key and I'll click on another and that will select all in between and then I'll drag from any one of those selected photos on top of the Italy album.
Now, if I ever want to see my Italy photos all in one place, I just click on the Italy album and there they are. I'm going to click on all photos again and create another album. I'll click the plus symbol, again I'll click Create and this will be an album of my France photos and I'll click Create and then I'll select this photo that I took in France. Here's another photo that's not next to that first one so I'll hold down the Command key this time, that's the Control key on Windows, to select that photo too and then I'll drag them both into the France album.
Now, the problem is that pretty soon I'm going to have so many albums that my albums panel is going to fill up. So, I'd like to organize my albums into a folder. The way to do that is to go to the plus symbol again and click Create Folder. I'll call this folder Travels and click Create and then I'll just drag these albums on top of the Travels folder to put them inside of it and I'll click the arrow to the left of the Travels folder to collapse it and that will give me more room here in the albums panel and it also organizes related albums together.
If I click on the Travels folder, I can see the contents of all the albums inside that folder. Another great thing about albums is that you can use them to easily share a group of photos with other people so let's say that I want to share my Italy photos with family and friends. I'll select the Italy album and then I'll right click on it and I'll choose Share Album. Because all my photos are in the cloud, Lightroom is able to create a shared album in the cloud and create a web address for that album that I can copy and then share with family and friends either by sending them an email or a message or some other method.
I'm going to copy this URL and then I'm going to go out to my web browser and paste it there so we can see what my family and friends will be able to see when they get that URL. I'll close this window. In the address bar of my browser I'll paste and here's the page that Lightroom CC created on the web. So, albums are not only a useful way to organize your photos, they're also a great way to share them.
