- [Instructor] When you make changes to your photos in Lightroom CC on any device, those changes automatically sync to the cloud and ripple through the system so that they appear in Lightroom CC on all your other devices too. To give you a sense of how that works, let's make a simple edit, applying a preset to one of the photos here in Lightroom CC on the desktop and then we'll see how that change appears automatically in Lightroom CC on a mobile device. Here in the All Photos view, I'm going to scroll down to find a photo to which I want to apply a preset.
I'll select this photo and then I'll go to the column on the right and I'll click the Edit button to open the edit controls. We'll be exploring editing controls in later movies in this course. For now, I'm going to go down to the bottom of this column and click Presets and that opens the presets panel. I'll click the black and white category of presets and I'm also going to go over to the right and I'm going to open up a couple of these editing panels because I want you to see that as you hover over presets, some of the sliders in the editing controls automatically move.
This is actually a great way to start to learn what the various sliders do. So I'm going to hover over one of these presets. That gives me a full sized preview of what this preset will look like on this photo. And if you look over on the right, you'll see that it's moved one of the sliders in the light panel, the contrast slider. I'm going to hover over another preset and I get another look and different sliders move. And I'll just keep doing this until I find my favorite one on this photo.
I think I'm going to go with the first black and white preset, the landscape preset, so I'll select that to apply that preset to this photo. Now let's switch over to a mobile device to see that that change will automatically appear there in Lightroom CC as well. Here in Lightroom CC on my iPhone, I'm signed in with the same Adobe ID that I use on my computer. You can see that all of the exercise files that I added to Lightroom CC on the computer appear here on my phone.
They were automatically synced from the computer up to the cloud and then to the phone If I swipe, you can see the photo of the mountains towards the bottom that I converted from color to black and white by applying a preset in Lightroom CC on the computer. I'll tap that image to take it into edit workspace and if I make a change here on the phone, that will automatically upload to the cloud and appear in Lightroom CC on my computer. Here in Lightroom CC on my desktop, the square crop that I made in Lightroom CC on the phone has synced over.
I'm going to close Presets for a moment so that we have more room to see the image. Now let's say that I want to get back to my original image. I can do that too by going to this menu with three dots, the More menu, and from there choosing Revert to Original. And there's my original color image and that change will sync through the ecosystem too. So I hope you see how much power the Lightroom CC ecosystem gives you. It also gives you an automatic worry-free backup of your original photos.
