Join Jan Kabili for an in-depth discussion in this video Reducing digital noise, part of Learning Lightroom 6 and Lightroom Classic CC.
- Noise in a photo is a byproduct of shooting digitally.…It shows up as grain or colored specks…in darker areas of a photo.…You'll get the most digital noise when…your camera is set to a high ISO,…or when you've shot with a lower-end camera.…Fortunately, there are powerful controls…for reducing digital noise…in the Develop module's Detail panel.…I'm gonna open the Detail panel…by clicking on its title bar in the column…on the right side of the Develop module.…The first step in noise reduction,…is always to zoom in to 1:1 view.…
I could do that by clicking directly on the photo,…or if I go over to the Detail panel,…you can see that Lightroom is trying to remind me…that I need to switch to 1:1 view…with this little exclamation mark.…If I click the exclamation mark,…that takes me to 1:1 view, too.…You have to be in 1:1 view…when you're evaluating noise in the Library module,…or working with these noise reduction controls…in the Develop module.…Noise that you can't see when zoomed back…to fit-on-screen view can surprise you later…
