Preserve tones with the help of Lightroom clipping indicators

- Thanks for joining me in another episode of Photo Tools Weekly. In this one, I want to talk about how we can use Lightroom in order to more intelligently process our images. In particular, I want to look at how we can preserve detail in our darker tones and also our brighter tones in our image. And to do that, we'll talk a little bit about Clipping Indicators, using the Basic panel, as well as the Tone Curve. All right, well let's start off with this photograph of my daughter, Annika here. And in the Develop module up here in the histogram, we can see a visualization of the data of the image. And often, what we'll do is process an image, just to make sure it looks good to our eye. But what we need to do next is turn on the Clipping Indicators. We can do so by clicking on these little triangle icons. And when you turn on those, all of a sudden, you see that there's this color on top of your image, right? You can see we have this red here and blue down here. Now what is that? Well…
