Whenever a software application comes out or a new version of a software application comes out, I'm always thinking, OK. What's this all about? And is it really worth it to invest all this time, energy, effort and money into this new version? Do I really need to do that? Let me tell you what I think about Lightroom 2 by way of a story. You know last year I had this unique opportunity to photograph Ivan Basso in a wind tunnel in San Diego, you can see the photograph over there on the left. One of the things that I was amazed about when I was photographing him and I was thinking about this whole wind tunnel process, was he was there in order to figure out how to be faster, stronger, smarter, more efficient and more creative with his energy and you know that's exactly how I feel about what the Lightroom team has done with Lightroom 2. It runs much faster.
The database backend stuff is much stronger. The program's smarter, more efficient, and I can access my files more quickly. There's some flexibility that's been built-in. Let's say in regards to cropping. I can now crop and then burn down my corners and also there's more creative potential. So in sum, Lightroom has helped me to become more efficient. It's strengthened my workflow. It makes me more flexible and ultimately it's led me to more creative results, which in turn has helped me to be a better photographer, which for me, that's what it's really all about. And for you, you'll have to check out the training and see for yourself.
