Light Room 4 has added two new modules, Book and Map. And in this video I'll give you a brief overview of their features and capabilities. Let's start with the map module. I'll select Map up here from the module picker. And we are now viewing Google Maps, obviously I'm online. In the past in Lightroom, you could read GPS location information in the meta data, but you couldn't view the actual location like we're doing here, without leaving Lightroom and going to Google Maps.
But once we're here, in the map module, I have all the functionality of Google Maps. So let me go ahead and zoom in, and we can see a closer view. I'm going to use this little navigator here to bring me back over to North America, and get me down to San Fransisco, right. So, you can see now these are locations where images from my collections have GPS data associated with this particular location. So not only will it read the information that is associated with an image that has the GPS data, and not everybody has GPS enabled cameras, although many of the camera phones now do that automatically. But if your camera doesn't have that information, it's simpler than ever to simply grab one of your pictures from the film strip that you've loaded into Lightroom.
And click and drag and drop it into a location. And then over here on the right, Lightroom will automatically in conjunction with Google Maps, it will add all this information. Location information as well as the GPS coordinates. It's pretty amazing how easy it is to do all this within the Lightroom environment itself. The bottom line is searching your extensive Photo Library in Lightroom just got a whole lot easier. Okay, so now, let's move over to the Book Module and we'll select. actually, I'm going to come over here because I have a book that I started to make called the River Book.
And I'm going to select that here. So you can see I've already started to make a book in the Book Module. So the Book Module does just that, it creates a ready to print book with a front and back cover, inside pages that can be quickly made with auto layout template or custom made. Once complete, the book can either be sent to blurb, for high quality printing, or sent to a PDF format, so you can print yourself or have someone else do it for you. There's literally hundreds of book layout templates to choose from.
And making a book has never been easier, and you can do it all within Lightroom. Two new modules, two really useful modules. Good job, Lightroom.
