Improving contrast in panoramic photos

- One of the next adjustments, I typically make when I finish my image is I properly achieve contrast. A lot of times with my panoramic photos, I have a lot of detail. So I'd really like to have the whites be white and the blacks be black. There's two typical ways I'd do this, curves or the brightness contrast effect. Let's continue working with the previous image or you can open up the image as you see here. And in this case, I want to improve the contrast a bit further. One of the easiest ways to do this is with a Curves adjustment layer. You'll find useful presets here that you could apply to easily put more contrast in. A little bit of linear or medium contrast and you see that it puts the gentle S-curve, that's know for adding contrast to a scene. Let's reset this. What I really like though is the ability to use the eye droppers. So I could sample a particular area to really see what's happening. So let's choose the white point.
