- What makes this portrait simple…is one light, and a reflector.…What we need is our light meter to make sure…that we match the light that's falling on our subject,…and we're also going to measure how much…the reflector is bouncing back onto the subject.…So, let's do those settings.…Now keep this in mind,…it's really important to have your assistant on set,…so this way we can get all of our meter readings…before the talent comes on.…What I want to do is take a meter reading…with the key light here coming across our subject,…and I want to see what those meter readings are going to be…so I can dial it into the camera.…
For this particular shot,…I know I wanted my shutter speed to be 1/25th of a second,…and my lowest ISO for my camera is 64.…The light meter after we clicked it…just shows me what the F-stop should be,…and here, we're set at 8.0.…That's exactly what I want.…Now, if 8.0, it doesn't show up on my reading,…that means that I either have to increase…the power of the light, if the F-stop is too low,…or move the light closer or away from the subject…
