Creating a Photoshop layer style

- Layer styles are very versatile technology inside of Photoshop. They allow you to apply several different effects to an individual layer, which is part of the overall design. They can include graphic elements, stylized things, such as texture or color, and a wealth of choices that are graphic in nature. Let's see how these can work together to quickly enhance a photo. Now, in order for layer styles to work, you have to have a layer. So make sure the Layers panel is visible. Additionally, you need to double-click on the Background layer to float it, now it's an actual layer. If you take a look at the fx, you'll see the different layer styles. And normally, these are thought of as adding things like bevels or strokes. But the Gradient Overlay, Pattern Overlay, and others can be quite useful. Let's bring up the Styles panel for a moment.
