Capturing lens correction data with a target

- If your camera and lens combination doesn't have its own profile built in, it is possible to build your own from scratch. This could be quite useful if you're using a newer lens that hasn't yet been profiled, or more likely a vintage lens that goes back a few years. A lot of folks like to use older lenses, whether its a nostalgic feel, a budget issue, or just to give their particular photographs a little different edge. In any case, we can still compensate for the flaws. So, if there's unwanted vignetting, where we're getting darkening at the corners, or barrel distortion that's unattractive, it's easy to build this and get rid of it. To build these, you're going to need to download Adobe's Lens Profile Creator tool. It's a free piece of software available from the DNG page, and there's extensive documentation inside of it on how to use it. You'll also find some PDFs that you should get printed out.
