Brightening tones with HSL

Now that you're becoming more familiar with HSL, one of the things that you'll do is you'll look at your photographs differently. For example, with this image, originally you may look at it and think, oh, it's kind of interesting, but now you look at it and think, okay, we have this huge area of green, and that huge area of green is a little bit dark and I would love to brighten this up. Rather than reaching for your Basic panel controls, what you might do is navigate to HSL and all that we need to do here is to simply click on the Target Adjustment tool for Luminance, or of course we can press that shortcut, right.

The shortcut on a Mac is Shift+Opt+ Command+L. On a PC the same shortcut that's Shift+Alt+Ctrl+L. Whether by shortcut or not, we can simply click on this Target Adjustment tool here and then go ahead and click and drag up and what that can allow me to do is to control the brightness right here in the foreground of the photograph.
