- [Instructor] In order to work with photos and videos in Lightroom CC, you need to add them to Lightroom CC and you can do that from anywhere, in Lightroom CC on a mobile device, on the web or on a computer. Let's take a look at how to add photos when you're working in Lightroom CC on a computer. If you have a camera or a memory card from a camera that has some photos on it, connect that to your computer now if you want to follow along. I've connected a camera card reader with a memory card from my DSLR.
To add photos to Lightroom CC, go to the top left of the interface and click the add photos button. If you have a camera or a camera card reader with a card in it connected to your computer, Lightroom CC detects that and it gives you this menu where you can choose either to bring in photos from that connected card, my card happens to be called Untitled, or browse through your computer, internal drive or an external drive to find photos from there.
I'm going to click on the Untitled card that I have connected to this computer and that opens this window where I see a preview of every photo on that card. The blue check mark on all of these photos means that the photos are selected for bringing in to Lightroom CC. Normally, I bring in all the photos that I shoot and then I call through them later inside of Lightroom CC rather than doing that here, but for purposes of this course, I don't want to bring in all 652 photos on this card so I'm going to go over to the select all checkbox and click there and that removes the check mark from all the photos.
To select just particular photos to bring in, I'll hover over a photo and when I see this gray circle, I'll click inside the circle to add a check mark to just that photo. Let's bring in one more. I'll do the same thing over here. There's really nothing else that I have to do in this window. There is one other option. If I want to add the photos that I'm bringing in to an album, I can do that from right here. If I click this arrow, I would see a list of any albums that I had already created in Lightroom CC, I don't have any yet, or I could create a new album from here.
And an album is just a virtual group of photos on a theme that's important to you, but I'm going to leave that set to none for now and later in the course, I'll show you how to create and use albums inside of Lightroom CC. So, all that's left to do is to come over to the right and click the blue button to add the selected photos. That closes the preview window and brings me back here to Lightroom CC where I can see the last photos that I've imported.
If I want to see all my photos in Lightroom CC including these, I'll go over to the left side and I'll click on this box icon, the my photos button, and in the column that opens on the left, I'll select all photos. Because I'm signed in with my Adobe id, if I go over to the right and click this cloud icon, I can see in this dropdown menu that all my photos including the two new ones have been automatically synced and backed up to the cloud and that means they'll be available on all my other devices to view, edit, organize, and share.
And do keep in mind that you can add photos from other devices too. So, you might have Lightroom on another computer like a computer at work or a laptop in addition to your main desktop computer and you could add photos from there or from a mobile device either directly by shooting with the Lightroom CC built-in camera or by adding them from the device's camera roll with just a few taps. And you can also add photos to Lightroom CC in a web browser on any computer by going to ligthroom.adobe.com in your web browser.
So, now that you know how to add photos to Lightroom CC, stay tuned as we look at how to work with them.
