- Hi, folks, my name is Scott Hargis, and I'm an architectural and interiors photographer based out of Oakland, California. I've been shooting interiors for about 10 years now. And I got my start shooting real estate, and that's what we're going to talk about today. We're here at this fantastic house in the California hills, and we're going to go through the basics of a simple real estate shoot. We're going to focus on one very easy room so that we can break it down step by step and really see the process, the fundamentals of what's involved in lighting a room, so that you get the outside exposure through the window and the interior in one photo, no compositing, minimal post-production.
I'm going to go through the equipment that we use. We're going to take a walk through the entire house and assess it with photographic eyes, as if we were about to do it the whole thing as a real estate shoot. And then we'll find that one good easy room, and I'm going to take a shot that would be, maybe five or ten minutes in real life and drag it out to something under an hour because we are going to stop at every step along the way and examine exactly what's happening, step by step by step. At the end of it, we're going to have one great photo. And with that, let's go inside and take a look at this place.
