Join David Rivers for an in-depth discussion in this video Adding a multiple-choice question, part of Learning Lectora Inspire.
Another popular type of question to add to a quiz here in Lectora is the multiple choice question. And that's what we're going to add next. And we're going to add it after the True/False question we added in the previous movie here labelled Page1 under our Quiz chapter. So if you skipped to this movie or need to get caught up just open up KE_Orientation08_03 and select Page 1. So the question is multiple choice meaning there is a question involved with one correct answer that needs to be selected by the student.
Let's go back up into our chapters here and look up some information on the K-Eco Mini panel. Let's select that page. Alright. It says here that apparently once you've charged up a device using the Mini panel, you get up to 20 hours of power for that portable device. Okay. Up to 20 hours. So let's keep that in mind now as we go back down. To page1, select it and add our new page where the new question will appear.
Yes, we have to go to the home tab here, click the drop down for page and select Blank, because we need that blank page to match our previous page, which was added by default when we added the Quiz chapter. Notice it's not really blank. We still get all of those elements that appear as part of the slide master, as well as the elements that appear as part of our quiz chapter. The buttons, the page count, but it is blank waiting for the question itself. We'll leave it called Page 2 and go up to the Test and Survey tab, click the Question drop-down because the second one is Multiple Choice.
When we give that a click we see the window now for our Multiple Choice question. So the name is question two by default it's our second question in the quiz let's click after that and add some additional info like multiple choice that way when we're looking at our title explorer here on the left we'll be able to see which type of question is which. Let's leave the Point Value at 1 for this one as well, there's only one correct answer with a multiple choice question. Now we just need the question. So I'll take out the question text by highlighting it and typing right over that.
How about this, how many hours of use can you get from a device that's being powered by a fully charged K-Eco Mini panel? Okay. So that looks good. You can type that in. Hit Pause till you get that question in there. And then down below, we'll start working with our choices. So we'll select the correct choice once we get the text in here. When we click in the row for Choice One which is already highlighted. Click Choice One. And I click again. We can type right over that. So let's type in 1-2 hours. For Choice Two, we'll click there.
Click again, type in 3-6 hours. Choice Three. Click again up to 20 hours and let's add another one where it says Click here to add a new choice. Choose something like None of the above. Now it's important when you add something like this that needs to be the last one that you don't choose the Randomized Choices checkbox. Randomized choices means every time someone takes the quiz, it's going to be, appearing in a different order.
So, these options will not be in the same order every time, the quiz is taken meaning none of the above could appear at the top and that wouldn't make sense. So I'll make sure that's not selected when we choose, an option that is. Dependent on its position. Alright, so we have four now. And we're ready to click OK, unless we want it to go into the feedback, same options for controlling and enabling feedback for correct and incorrect answers. We could also. Set the Maximum Amount of Attempts someone can take but, I think we're going to leave it just like what we did for our True / False question.
There's the four answers and we click OK. Now we do need to make sure the correct one is selected. So let's click the Radio button next to Up to 20 hours. That's the correct answer. And click OK. All right so there is some adjusting and formatting to do here. Let's move everything over first of all, so it's not interfering with the logo. And you can see we run out of space here. So all we need to do now is just squeeze this right-hand side in for the question itself. Now we can move it over. Click and drag, and increase the size height-wise, so we can see all of the text.
Beautiful. Alright, let's marquee select by clicking, dragging around all of the answers, and move them over. Lined up underneath our question, like so, and deselect. Beautiful. So, that's coming along. We now have two questions. Notice Page 2. And, there's the question, multiple choice. It has a number of different elements. So, we have question text, and choices. And radio buttons, and so on. So we can collapse all over that, just to stay organized, I'm going to the same with question 1.
And now we have two pages, two questions and we're ready to continue with the next type of question, that's coming up next where they might be more than one correct answer.
