- Two keys to execution of your strategy are measurement and accountability. You can't manage what you don't measure. Monitor key metrics closely. Take corrective action as soon as you know something's off track. Since you can't manage everything, you'll need to hold people accountable for meeting goals you've set for them. Make their responsibilities clear and reward or remediate bad behavior quickly. For handy techniques on measurement and accountability, take a look at my course on measuring team performance. A nice compliment to that is my course on building accountability. Some of my top measurement tips are first, focus only on key metrics. Look at driver metrics that support your strategy. Too many times we look at every metric that's available. Understand which ones matter. Set thresholds for actions so you can make decisions quickly.
