- Now I want to illustrate situational leadership with a story about how it went wrong. And I was just having a curry with a friend of mine, he's a managing director, and he was telling me about one of his guys called Dave. And he was saying, "Oh, Dave's really let me down. "In fact, Dave's let me down twice." And I thought, Everything's management's fault." And if somebody lets you down twice, you've got to wonder, why didn't you learn after the first time? So I asked him about it, and it was really interesting, and that's what I want to share with you. So what happened was the boss guy was looking for somebody who could do a project for him. And he was looking around, and his eye alighted upon Dave. Now, Dave is very good technically. He's also very good one-to-one with people. He's a user-friendly techy, and that's a valuable thing.
