- Every year, I lead wilderness expeditions with executives and special operations soldiers. Upholding standards is always a front burner conversation between these two groups. One time, prior to climbing a mountain summit, we asked a group to meet and be ready to leave at 7:45am with their packs on and trekking poles in hand. The 13 executives and veterans gathered before the climb. As we stepped off, a special operations sergeant major flatly said, "It's 7:53, not 7:45." You could have heard a pine cone drop.
